Consultation & Referral Specialist/Transportation Coordinator
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Information and Assistance
- Answer phone calls from general public, respond to emails, and meet with walk-in clients regarding a variety of needs that older adults or disabled adults may have
- Assess the need
- Explore client’s own resources to meet the need
- Determine whether there are programs to meet the need
- If needed, research available programs or seek more information
- Explain available programs and how to access them
- If needed, help the client to pursue an application for assistance
- If needed, make referrals on the client’s behalf
- If needed, follow up to find out whether needs were met
Resource Management
- Assist with database updates (and Resource Directory production) through telephone calls, email, and other research
- Increase departmental knowledge base by continually learning more about available programs and services, being alert to new programs being offered, and sharing knowledge with coworkers
Transportation Coordination
- Coordinate all facets of RFS Transportation, including screening, registering and updating transportation clients; create and update route manifests and work closely with transportation vendors and registered clients on customer service issues, billing, scheduling and troubleshooting. Monitor the usage of transportation funding streams to adhere to budgeted allocations.
- Review billing and make corrections with vendors to assure accuracy
- Prepare required reports for management and funding sources
Candidates should have excellent time management, communication and organizational skills, helpful demeanor, computer experience and a four-year degree in a social science field. An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered.
