Transportation Programs

Resources for Seniors administers two different transportation programs. For additional information about these programs, contact our transportation coordinator at 919-713-1556.

Medical Transportation

Medical transportation is a very limited program intended to serve those who have no other means of transportation to medical appointments. Trips are limited to two or three times per month, due to limited funding. Individuals needing transportation to frequent appointments (such as dialysis or chemotherapy) can’t be served.

Transportation is door-to-door by shared van service and can accommodate wheelchair users. Appointments must be made several days in advance of the appointment, and users must complete enrollment paperwork before their first ride.

To be eligible, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Wake County resident
  • Be at least 60 years old
  • Live inside/outside the city limits of Raleigh and Cary
  • Does NOT have Medicaid (because Medicaid has its own transportation program)
  • Does NOT have a valid driver’s license
  • Has no other means of transportation
  • Cannot be an active driver
  • Have no other means of transportation
  • Inability to drive safely
  • Cannot be a temporary situation
